School Fencing in Charleston

Key takeaways

  • School and district fencing is a summer sprint: it has to be finished before the first bell, and this year it was.

  • We handled car rider loop fencing and barrier gates, athletic field fencing, temporary campus fencing, and a large bus lot across the Lowcountry.

  • Each job answers a different need, from managing dismissal traffic to protecting a fleet of buses overnight.

  • School work is held to a higher standard than a typical job site, and we build it that way.

  • Now that classes are back in session, these projects are quietly doing their jobs every single day.

The buses are running and the halls are full again, which means the busiest stretch of our year is behind us. Summer is when the Lowcountry's schools do their fencing and gate work, because there is exactly one hard deadline that never moves: the first day back. Now that everyone has returned, here is a look at the school fencing we completed across Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties this summer, and what each project quietly does for the campus every day.

Ashley Ridge High: car rider loop, barrier gates, and a connected fence

At Ashley Ridge High in Summerville, the work came together as one coordinated package: fencing along the car rider loop, new barrier gates, and tying the whole campus fence line into one continuous, secure boundary.

The car rider loop looks like a convenience, but it is really a safety project. Its fencing keeps waiting cars in a single lane, stops students from cutting across active traffic, and channels everyone to one supervised pickup point. The barrier gates turn that fence into a system, letting staff open the campus for buses in the morning, close the loop when it is not in use, and lock down after hours. That is the difference between a calm dismissal and a chaotic one, twice a day.

Athletic field fencing: track and field, ready for fall sports

We also spent part of the summer on athletic fencing, including track and field work at Oceanside Academy and CCSD District 4 Regional track project off West Montague Avenue in North Charleston. A field fence works harder than any backyard fence. It holds back crowds, defines the venue, and takes years of weather and play, so it is built heavier, set deeper, and run straighter. Just as important are the gates, sized for maintenance vehicles, equipment, and controlled spectator access. With fall sports here, those clean lines around the track are doing their job right now.

Stiles Point Elementary: temporary fencing during construction

Not every school project waits for summer break. When construction and the school year overlap, one rule matters above all: children and the work zone can never share a space. At Stiles Point Elementary on James Island, we set temporary fencing to seal the construction area off from the parts of campus still in use. On a school, a temporary fence is held to a higher bar than a bare job site, no gaps a child could slip through, secure footing, and an obvious do-not-cross edge. Our temporary fencing is built to that standard.

Johns Island: 1,400 feet of fence and a heavy-duty bus gate

Getting ready for school is not only classrooms. The buses need a secure home too. On Johns Island, we wrapped a school bus lot in roughly 1,400 feet of black chain link fence with a heavy-duty gate wide enough for a full-size bus. A lot full of buses and fuel sits outside every night, so that perimeter is real security, not a token line. Over that distance every foot has to hold, which comes down to proper post spacing, consistent tensioning, and gates built for constant daily use. Our custom gate and ironwork shop lets us size a bus gate to the opening rather than force a stock one to fit.

Why schools and districts keep our number

Across all of these, the common thread is trust and timing. School work has a fixed deadline and a higher safety bar, and it often needs the paperwork a district or general contractor keeps on file. We are fully licensed and insured, we treat the first day as the deadline it is, and we build campus fencing to the standard the setting deserves. That is why districts and the contractors who work with them call us back. Our commercial fencing page has more on how we handle institutional work.

What our customers say

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle fencing and gates for schools and districts? Yes. We do car rider loop fencing, barrier and access gates, athletic and field fencing, temporary campus fencing, and large perimeter and bus-lot projects across the Tri-County area, scheduled around the academic calendar.

Can you finish a school project before students return? That is how we plan every one. We treat the first day as a fixed deadline, order materials early, and schedule the crew so the work is complete and inspected before the campus reopens.

Is temporary fencing safe to use on an active campus? When it is built to the right standard, yes. On a school we install a continuous barrier with secure footing and no gaps a child could pass through, and construction access that never crosses the students' path.

Are you licensed and insured for public and institutional work? Yes. We are fully licensed and insured and can provide the documentation districts and general contractors need on file before work begins.
